Take Action

Why Get out the Vote?

Running a voter registration is an opportunity for your local secular community to reach new audiences. By running a registration drive, your members can make a direct impact on our democracy while also getting exposure for your local secular group in parts of the community where your members wouldn’t normally be visible, like the grocery store or outside a concert venue.

Three Ways to Take Action

1) Register voters! Is your group ready to get started? Sign up to get involved here. Make sure that when you are registering voters, you are either wearing or displaying something that identifies you. If your group needs T-shirts, buttons, or stickers to bring visibility to your registration drive, contact us at vote@secular.org.

Voter registration drives present an opportunity to grow our local secular communities by reaching new audiences. By running a registration drive, you can get more exposure for your local secular group in parts of the community where your members wouldn’t normally be visible, like the grocery store or outside a concert venue.

2) Support your local registration drive! If you're not able to run your own registration drive but still want to get involved, find a registration drive happening near you and contact the organizers to offer your help. In addition to registering voters in your community, you can support your local registration drive in other ways too, including offering your home as a base for volunteers, making phone calls, doing data entry.

3) Pledge To Vote! Your vote is your voice. While it is critical that we register as many voters as possible, we need to turn out those voters. And that means you! We need you to pledge to vote in every election. Showing politicians that atheists, agnostics, freethinkers, and other secular people are a powerful (and growing) voting bloc requires getting out the vote and demonstrating that we are a force to be reckoned with at election time. You can make that happen by making a pledge to vote and being vocal as a member of our community!
